To the Editor:

Re “In One Family Tree, a Reflection of Immigration” (front page, Sept. 17):

The Trump administration's proposal under which “Americans would lose the right to petition for their parents” to get green cards would mean a generation of American children deprived of grandparents.

Did none of those who support this proposal have an important grandparent growing up? Do they not see the hypocrisy of denying others what was vital to them?
